Trade Counter Assistant – Plumbing & Heating Supplies
Locations: Limerick | Kilkenny | Laois | Tullamore
Employment: Full-time, permanent (one Trade Counter Assistant role available in each branch)
About the Role
A leading Irish plumbing and heating supplier is looking for enthusiastic Trade Counter Assistants to join its busy branches in Limerick, Kilkenny, Laois and Tullamore. Each Trade Counter Assistant will be the first point of contact for local plumbers, heating engineers and retail customers, providing product advice, processing sales and ensuring a smooth, professional counter service.
Key Responsibilities

Welcome trade and retail customers, identify requirements and offer product guidance

Process orders, quotations and returns accurately using the point-of-sale system

Pick, pack and hand-over stock from the warehouse or arrange delivery where required

Maintain an organised, well-stocked counter and showroom area, ensuring product displays are tidy and up to date

Promote special offers and upsell complementary products to maximise sales

Support stock control: book goods in, carry out cycle counts and liaise with the warehouse on discrepancies

Handle payments, refunds and basic cash-up procedures at the end of shift

Answer phone and email enquiries promptly, providing pricing and availability information

Work closely with the branch manager and external sales team to meet branch targets

Follow all health, safety and manual-handling guidelines on site
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in a trade counter, builders’ merchant, DIY, plumbing or heating environment is an advantage

Strong customer-service skills with confident, clear communication

Good numerical ability and basic IT skills (EPOS and MS Office)

A hands-on approach and willingness to learn product ranges quickly
-
Organised, reliable and able to multitask in a fast-moving setting

Comfortable with manual handling and working in a warehouse/counter mix
-
Fork-lift licence (counterbalance or reach) is helpful but not essential
-
Full driving licence is desirable for occasional local deliveries
