Job description

Production & Workshop Manager

Dublin | €85,000-€90,000 per annum | Full-time, Permanent

Flexistaff is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Production & Workshop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy, fast-paced Dublin workshop.

This is a senior, hands-on management position suited to someone with strong industry experience across workshop production, joinery, carpentry, fabrication, shopfitting, exhibitions or a similar environment.

This is a very fast-paced operation, so candidates must be comfortable managing multiple projects, changing priorities and tight deadlines while keeping production, quality and the team on track.

The Role

As Production & Workshop Manager, you will oversee the workshop and production team, ensuring projects are planned effectively, deadlines are met and high standards are maintained.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, scheduling and allocating work across the workshop team
  • Managing a busy production schedule and ensuring deadlines are achieved
  • Keeping multiple projects moving in a fast-paced environment
  • Working closely with Project Managers and Designers
  • Leading and supporting skilled tradespeople on the workshop floor
  • Resolving day-to-day production issues quickly and practically
  • Overseeing work across carpentry, joinery, metalwork, CNC and fabrication
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
  • Managing materials, equipment, loading and dispatch
  • Monitoring workflow and identifying potential delays or production issues
  • Creating a positive, productive and well-organised workshop environment

What We’re Looking For

Industry experience is essential for this position.

We are particularly interested in candidates coming from environments such as:

  • Joinery
  • Carpentry
  • Shopfitting
  • Exhibition or event production
  • Bespoke manufacturing
  • Fabrication
  • CNC production
  • Commercial fit-out
  • Workshop-based production

You may currently be working as a Production Manager, Workshop Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Foreman, Shopfitting Manager, Senior Joiner/Carpenter, Production Supervisor or in a similar senior position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong relevant industry and workshop experience
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a production/workshop team
  • A practical understanding of manual trades and production processes
  • The ability to operate effectively in a very fast-paced environment
  • Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach
  • A willingness to be visible and hands-on within the workshop
  • A strong focus on quality, productivity and health & safety

You do not need to be an expert in every individual trade. However, you must understand how a busy workshop operates and be confident managing experienced tradespeople and production workflows.

The Environment

This is not a desk-based management position.

The successful candidate will spend significant time on the workshop floor, communicating with the team, monitoring production, solving problems and making sure projects keep moving.

The environment is energetic and fast moving, so this role will suit someone who enjoys being busy, can think on their feet and remains organised when priorities change.

You will be supported by a Junior Assistant Production Manager, the Senior Management Team and an experienced team of tradespeople working across carpentry, joinery, fabrication, CNC and metalwork.

What’s on Offer

  • €85,000-€90,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Senior responsibility within a busy production environment
  • Support from an Assistant Production Manager and Senior Management Team
  • Varied projects across exhibitions, events, retail and commercial work
  • Opportunity to lead an experienced and skilled workshop team

If you are an experienced Production or Workshop Manager with the required industry background and you thrive in a busy, hands-on, fast-paced environment, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
