Stores Assistant (Temporary Contract)

We are currently recruiting a Stores Assistant for a busy retail branch in Athlone. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused individual to join a well-established business on an initial 3-month temporary contract, with the potential for extension.

The Role

Working within the branch stores area, you will play a key role in managing incoming stock, maintaining an organised stores environment, and supporting customers with product collections. As the final point of contact for many customers, you will be expected to deliver a professional and helpful service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently
• Putting stock away in the correct storage locations
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised stores area
• Operating a counterbalance forklift as required
• Adhering to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Assisting customers with collections and loading products into vehicles
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the branch
• Carrying out general stores and stock management duties as required

Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
• Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, logistics, or stock control role
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Professional, courteous, and approachable manner
• Ability to use initiative and work independently
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to undertake manual handling duties as part of the role

Working Hours

39 hours per week

• Monday to Friday
• 9:00am to 5:30pm

Contract Details

• Initial 3-month temporary contract
• Immediate start available
• Contract review between months two and three, with the possibility of extension based on business requirements

Salary

€15.50 – €16.75 per hour DOE
