Checkout Manager
Location: Dublin 20
Salary: €33,250 – €34,250 DOE
Hours: Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week (5 Days Over 7)
Shift Pattern: Rotating early, late, weekend and public holiday shifts
Professional Summary
Experienced retail professional required to support the day-to-day management of a busy checkout department within a high-volume supermarket environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring excellent customer service, supervising checkout staff, maintaining operational standards, and supporting the wider store management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Checkout Manager with the daily operation of the checkout department.
- Supervise and coordinate a team of up to 8-10 staff per shift.
- Manage customer flow and queue control during busy trading periods.
- Assist customers with queries and provide excellent customer service.
- Oversee the store’s home delivery operation.
- Ensure departmental housekeeping and compliance standards are maintained.
- Support staff training, development, and performance.
- Provide till cover when required and assist in other store departments as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience supervising a checkout team within a busy grocery retail environment.
- Experience operating till and cash handling systems.
- Strong customer service and people management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience training and developing staff.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays.
