Fresh Food Manager – Douglas Cork
Salary: €50,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Our client, a high-performing and well-established supermarket in the Douglas area of Cork, is seeking a dedicated Fresh Food Manager to take full responsibility for the performance, standards, and customer experience across all fresh food departments. Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations across Deli, Bakery, Butchery, Produce, and Meal Solutions.
- Ensure all areas are fully stocked, merchandised, and meet the highest standards of freshness and quality.
- Monitor performance across each department and implement action plans where required.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team to achieve targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Conduct training, support staff development, and ensure strong communication across all departments.
- Manage rotas, staffing levels, and performance to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Compliance & Food Safety
- Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and audit standards.
- Conduct regular checks, record compliance data, and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and best practice throughout the store.
Commercial Performance
- Drive sales through strong product availability, effective stock rotation, and reduced waste.
- Analyse department performance, margins, and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support seasonal planning, promotional activity, and merchandising execution across all fresh food areas.
Customer Experience
- Ensure customers receive an outstanding shopping experience through high presentation standards and excellent service.
- Respond to customer queries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years‘ experience in a Fresh Food Manager or Senior Supervisor role within grocery retail.
- Strong product knowledge across multiple fresh food categories (Deli, Bakery, Butchery, Produce, etc.).
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a busy retail environment.
- Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
- Commercially aware with the ability to analyse figures and drive performance.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exceptional standards.
- Fully eligible to work in Ireland.
