Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Lusk, Co. Dublin
Hours: Full-Time | Permanent
Department: Quality / Technical Department
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established food manufacturing company based in Lusk, Co. Dublin, who are experiencing continued growth. They now have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician to join their team and support the Quality and Technical functions within the business.
This is a fantastic role for someone with a strong understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and compliance who wants to develop their career in a progressive and supportive environment. You‘ll work closely with production teams to ensure all products meet regulatory standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Process Compliance
- Monitor production to ensure products meet quality, safety, and legal standards.
- Check preparation, portioning, and packaging to meet product specifications.
- Engage with production teams to maintain high-quality standards throughout all processes.
Corrective Actions
- Lead or support root cause analysis for any non-conformances.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), updating SOPs or retraining staff where needed.
Testing & Inspection
- Carry out raw material checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Conduct finished product testing (sensory, microbiological, shelf life).
- Use statistical sampling to monitor product consistency and identify issues early.
Hygiene Monitoring
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform environmental swabbing and internal hygiene audits, reporting and following up on findings.
Temperature Control
- Monitor and document temperatures at all stages of production and storage.
- Verify correct temperature control during transportation to maintain product quality.
Procedure & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure factory procedures comply with internal standards and external legislation (e.g. HACCP, GMP).
- Keep up to date with changes in food safety regulations and implement accordingly.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of testing methodologies (sensory, microbiological, chemical).
- Proficient with tools such as thermometers, pH meters, and laboratory equipment.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret test results and identify quality trends.
- Accurate documentation and record-keeping for compliance and audits.
- Understanding of production workflows and their impact on product quality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- A proactive approach to quality improvement and food safety culture.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a quality assurance or technical role within the food manufacturing industry.
- A good working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to influence and support colleagues.
