Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Location: County Limerick

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer for their client, a prominent player in the food catering sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of health and safety policies across multiple sites, including Newcastle West, Cork, and Galway. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in fostering a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and promoting safe practices in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote Health & Safety Culture: The Health & Safety Officer will drive initiatives that cultivate a proactive safety mindset among employees across all locations.
  • Policy Development & Compliance: The role involves assisting in the creation and implementation of health and safety policies in accordance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Candidates will conduct site-specific evaluations and hazard identifications, addressing risks related to warehousing, food handling, and transportation operations.
  • Training & Engagement: The officer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive health and safety training to staff at all levels, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and emergency preparedness.
  • Incident Investigation: Strong investigative skills will be required to lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Data Monitoring & Reporting: The role includes tracking and analysing health and safety performance metrics to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: The officer will leverage lean or Six Sigma principles to enhance safety processes and develop innovative safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors Degree (Level 8) in Occupational Safety, Health, and Welfare.
  • A minimum of 3 yearsexperience in a health and safety role, preferably within the FMCG or food distribution sectors.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 and safety management systems is essential.
  • QQI Level 6 or Instructor Training in safety practices is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with safety management software will be advantageous.
  • A full clean driving license and own transport are required, with flexibility for travel.
