Job description

We are searching for a Customs Department Supervisor based in the North County Dublin office, you will oversee a large customs team, (supported by a structure of team leads and supervisors), at the Dublin facility. Your focus will be on ensuring customs compliance and managing operations for the Ireland and UK sites. We need a leader with strong office management skills and customs knowledge, capable of navigating the fast-paced demands of overnight road freight service between the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Monitor team performance daily, identifying areas for improvement and training.
  • Develop and report KPIs to guide the team and inform senior management.
  • Lead customs operations meetings, addressing performance and operational challenges.
  • Plan daily operations and resource allocation to meet deadlines.
  • Work closely with the team to set expectations and maintain high standards.
  • Support HR compliance and handle risks or delays proactively, reporting to senior management.

Customs Operations:

  • Build strong relationships with customs authorities in Ireland and the UK.
  • Ensure all customs procedures are followed by the team.
  • Ensure timely clearance of shipments using your customs knowledge.
  • Advise customers on import/export regulations, especially post-Brexit changes.
  • Attend customer meetings to review customs processes.
  • Collaborate with Ireland and UK teams to ensure smooth, compliant customs operations.
  • Stay updated on customs regulations, implementing changes as necessary.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience leading large teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in customs procedures (road, air, or sea freight).
  • Experience with customs authorities in Ireland and the UK.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with compliance, HR regulations, and customs systems.
  • Ability to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of customs codes, tariffs, security declarations, and transit processes.
